Don’t judge a movie by its trailer.
What did I just watch? Between the poorly shot green screen, the inconsistencies between scenes, and laughter in the audience during the absolutely messy plot… This was a pure mess, a two hour mess.
For the grand monologue of the “angry black woman” stereotype in one of the opening scenes, Perry played right into the stereotype that was embarrassing and desperate.
If my ex-husband wrote me a check for $10 million and bought my mother’s house, I would write a check for my student loan balance, grab my passport for the next flight out and never look back.
From the desk of Dr. Metzger:
Sigh. This is it. This is the last Tyler Perry Film I will go to see.
There was so much that bothered me. Was it the the Larenz Tate mooch look-alike (cue flashbacks of “Why Do Fools Fall in Love), the obvious green screen shots, the ridiculous script or Taraji’s blue contacts? What kind of invention stays relevant for two decades? Who has those type of severe injuries without your car being totaled?
I wonder if Tyler even tries anymore to make a story even a least bit believable or does he just throw a whole bunch of melodrama together and call it a film? There were times where the scenes even shifted like we were watching a play. Taraji did her best with whatever this was. She’s a good actress.
