Won’t You Be My Neighbor?

“Won’t you be my neighbor? Is an invitation to help somebody know that they’re loved and capable of loving.” – Mr. Rogers

The lights went out and this began playing and you could feel the audience exhale… The lights went up and there was SILENCE.

The silence spoke volumes as the audience gathered their belongings and exited the theatre. Perhaps it was an invitation to let the ministry and message of the importance of kindness, slowing down, being present, and how that is translated into small, daily gestures of love.  This is what we need to carry us forward. We can’t  get there by filling space with words that often have no meaning.

Yes, this is what we need right now…a little bit of silence, a little bit of kindness, and a whole lot of love! Thank you, Mr. Rogers!  143…forever and always!

PS: I am calling it now…Morgan will take home another Oscar for for Best Documentary.

From the desk of Dr. Metzger

Fred Rogers was kind, inclusive and a pioneer for shaping educational television for children. “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” was informative but similar to watching “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” in the eighties, I was a tad bored.

I suggest catching this documentary at a TV near you.
