Instant Family

Is being a foster parent compared to renovating a house?  Is foster care the expanded version of gentrification? This movie was horrible and self-serving.  Absolutely not!

From the desk of Dr. Dion Metzger:

At the 60 minute mark of “Instant Family”, I turned to Lauren and asked if we could leave. She quickly reminded me that we’re movie critics and have to watch the whole thing. I get that this was a true story and the wonderful premise of foster parenting having a bumpy road with a happy ending. However, the delivery sucked. I cringed at moments that were suppose to be comedic. I’m sorry. There is nothing funny about pedophilia, substance abuse or trauma. Maybe I’m hypersensitive as a psychiatrist, actually no I’m not…this was a classic case of good intentions with trash delivery. This is an “instant no” from me.
