And the Oscars goes to…

Do I think it is the best film of 2019? No.  Do you I think it should win the Oscar for Best Picture? No.  Will it win?  Very high probability.  Why?  Because the Academy likes this…war, survival, friendship, challenging camera work by Roger Deakins, and a pacifist conclusion.

“1917” was a good film. Director Sam Mendes’ style of filming this World War I epic as one continuous shot was fascinating to watch. However, that was the only appeal of the film. The story and the characters fell too short for this to win the Oscar for Best Picture.
